Project Introduction
Procurement and Retrofit of MD360-60X7P Mining Multistage Pump for a Certain Iron Mine in Anhui Province
A deep‑lying iron mine in Anhui operates at a mining depth exceeding 400 meters. The underground hydrogeological conditions are complex, with substantial daily inflow rates, and the mine water contains fine sand and trace corrosive impurities, placing extremely high demands on drainage equipment for wear resistance, pressure resistance, and operational stability. The mine’s existing…
Old-style multistage pump
The drawbacks are significant: the conventional balance‑disc design is highly susceptible to wear, and under prolonged high‑load operation it frequently suffers from axial force imbalance, rotor jamming, and seal leakage.
Especially during the rainy season, the inflow into the mine shafts surges, and the old pumps prove insufficient in drainage efficiency. This not only necessitates the coordinated operation of multiple pumps, resulting in persistently high energy consumption, but also frequently leads to shutdowns for maintenance due to equipment failures, making it difficult to control underground water levels and directly hindering mining progress. Moreover, the annual costs associated with equipment repairs and spare‑part replacements are substantial. To thoroughly optimize the underground drainage system, the mine has decided to replace its primary drainage equipment across the board.
Taking into account the underground drainage lift of 420 meters, a discharge rate of 360 m³/h, and the complex water quality conditions, the mining area conducted extensive comparative evaluations and ultimately procured.

This pump features a self‑balancing core design that eliminates the conventional, wear‑prone balance disc, automatically counteracting axial forces and thereby reducing failure rates at the source. Its wetted components are crafted from high‑chromium wear‑resistant alloy, offering excellent corrosion resistance and outstanding resistance to sand and sediment erosion, making it ideally suited to the complex mine‑water conditions found in mining operations. Paired with an explosion‑proof motor compliant with underground mining safety standards, it can operate continuously and reliably under heavy loads around the clock.
The manufacturer provides end-to-end services, including on-site surveys, installation and commissioning, and technical guidance. The equipment achieved successful trial operation on the first attempt and was smoothly put into regular operation. Following the upgrade, a single pump is sufficient to meet underground drainage requirements, eliminating the need for multiple pumps in series and significantly improving drainage efficiency.
Since the equipment was commissioned one year ago, it has operated smoothly with no leaks or malfunctions, requiring only routine daily inspections and exhibiting extremely low wear on consumable parts. This has not only significantly reduced labor‑intensive maintenance and spare‑part costs but also completely eliminated drainage‑related safety risks during the rainy season, ensuring year‑round safe production at the mine while delivering substantial energy‑saving and efficiency‑enhancing benefits.
