What are the daily maintenance methods for high-pressure stainless steel multistage pumps?

What are the daily maintenance methods for high-pressure stainless steel multistage pumps?

High-pressure stainless steel multistage pump The core of daily maintenance lies in corrosion prevention, clog prevention, and wear prevention. Regular inspections and maintenance can extend equipment lifespan and avoid unexpected downtime due to failures. The specific methods are as follows:

  1. Pre-operation inspection

  ◦ Ensure that the pump chamber is completely filled with liquid; absolutely prohibit dry running and dry grinding to prevent damage to the mechanical seal and impeller. Check the open/closed status of the inlet and outlet valves to ensure that the piping system is unobstructed.

  ◦ Check the lubricant oil level; the oil level must be maintained between the 1/2 and 2/3 marks on the oil dipstick. The lubricant oil must be clean and free of impurities. If emulsification or blackening occurs, replace the oil promptly.

  ◦ Check the coaxiality between the motor and the pump shaft, as well as whether the base bolts and coupling bolts are securely tightened, to prevent vibration during operation.

  2. Monitoring during operation

  ◦ Monitor the pressure gauge and ammeter readings in real time. If the pressure drops suddenly or the current shows abnormal fluctuations, it could indicate impeller blockage or seal leakage; in such cases, promptly shut down the equipment for inspection and troubleshooting.

  ◦ Listen carefully to the operating sound of the pump body. Under normal operation, the sound should be a steady mechanical hum. If unusual noises or severe vibrations occur, it could indicate impeller wear, bearing damage, or loose foundations.

  ◦ Control the operating conditions to avoid prolonged operation outside the rated flow and head ranges as much as possible, thereby preventing cavitation from damaging the impeller and pump casing.

  3. Regular cleaning and maintenance

  ◦ Regularly clean the flow components: For pumps that convey media containing trace impurities, it is necessary to periodically disassemble the impeller and guide vanes to remove deposits from the flow passages, thereby preventing blockages that could impair boosting performance. When cleaning, use a soft brush to avoid scratching the passivation film on the stainless steel surface.

  ◦ Rust-preventive treatment: If the pump is to be idle for an extended period, drain any residual liquid from the pump, rinse it thoroughly with clean water, and then dry it completely. Next, apply rust-inhibiting oil to the surfaces of the flow-through components. At the same time, seal the inlet and outlet ports to prevent dust and moisture from entering.

  ◦ Clean the exterior of the pump body: Regularly wipe the surface of the pump body and motor to keep them clean and dry, preventing dust accumulation that could impair heat dissipation.

  4. Replacement of wear parts

  ◦ Mechanical seals: If medium leakage occurs, check the wear condition of the sealing elements and replace them promptly. When replacing, ensure that the sealing surfaces are clean to prevent impurities from entering and causing seal failure.

  ◦ Bearings: If the bearing temperature exceeds 70℃ or unusual noises are detected during operation, the machine must be stopped for inspection. Replace bearings promptly if they show severe wear, and after replacement, re-lubricate them with fresh lubricant.

  ◦ Impeller and Seal Rings: Regularly inspect the impeller for corrosion, wear, and cracks, and check the seal rings for aging and deformation. Replace any components found to be defective promptly to ensure boosting efficiency and sealing performance.

  5. Maintenance Precautions

  ◦ When performing maintenance, you must first disconnect the power supply and hang a “Do Not Close” warning sign to prevent accidental startup.

  ◦ Avoid exposing stainless steel components to strong acids or strong alkaline cleaners. When cleaning, prioritize using neutral detergents to prevent damage to the passivation film and subsequent corrosion.
