Chairman Pan Shiqun and his delegation from Changsha Zhonglian Pump Industry visited Jiangsu University to engage in academic exchanges and recruit talent.
To further promote technological innovation and upgrading within enterprises and strengthen the reserve of high-end professional talent, recently, Pan Shiqun, Chairman of Changsha Zoomlion Pump Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Zoomlion Pump”), led a team comprising core technical experts and human resources professionals on a special visit to the School of Energy and Power Engineering at Jiangsu University (hereinafter referred to as “Jiangda School of Energy and Power Engineering”) to engage in academic exchanges and carry out targeted talent recruitment activities. The Dean of Jiangda School of Energy and Power Engineering, leaders of related disciplines, and representatives of key faculty members warmly welcomed the delegation. Both sides engaged in in-depth discussions on core issues such as technology R&D, platform sharing, and joint talent cultivation, laying a solid foundation for future industry-academia-research cooperation.

As a leading enterprise in China’s pump industry, Zhonglian Pump Industry has always taken technological innovation as its core competitive edge, deeply investing in the research and development and manufacturing of fluid machinery equipment. Its products serve extensively in key national sectors such as water conservancy, municipal engineering, and energy, providing reliable equipment support for industry development. Meanwhile, the School of Energy and Power Engineering at Jiangsu University boasts profound expertise and strong research capabilities in the fields of fluid machinery and engineering. The nationally-level large-scale open-type pump test bench and the high-temperature, high-pressure extreme pump test bench—both developed based on its specialized disciplines—serve as crucial platforms for performance testing of fluid machinery and cutting-edge technology R&D in China, offering vital platform support for the industry to overcome technical bottlenecks and achieve innovative development.
During the exchange visit, accompanied throughout by the team from the School of Energy and Power Engineering at Jiangsu University, Chairman Pan Shiqun and his delegation conducted on-site inspections of two key experimental platforms. At the national-level large-scale open-type pump test bench, the team gained a detailed understanding of the bench’s testing accuracy, flow range coverage, and practical application results in areas such as pump efficiency optimization and hydraulic model validation. At the high-temperature, high-pressure extreme-pump test bench, both sides engaged in lively discussions focusing on critical technical challenges—including material selection, innovative structural design, and reliability enhancement for pump products under extreme operating conditions. The technical team from Zhonglian Pump Industry, drawing on the real pain points and needs encountered in their production processes, had in-depth exchanges of technical ideas with the college experts, sparking numerous collaborative insights with immediate practical value right there on the spot.
During the subsequent roundtable discussion, both sides focused their attention on the collaborative development of industry, academia, and research, as well as on building a robust talent-development system, engaging in pragmatic consultations. The Dean of the School of Energy and Power Engineering at Jiangsu University systematically introduced the school’s core research directions in fluid machinery, exemplary cases of research成果 transformation, and its distinctive talent-development framework. The Dean emphasized that the school has always been guided by industry needs and is committed to cultivating high-quality professionals who possess both solid theoretical foundations and strong practical capabilities. In turn, Chairman Pan Shiqun comprehensively shared Zhonglian Pump Industry’s future development strategy, current core technology requirements, and plans for building a talent pipeline. He explicitly expressed the company’s desire to establish a long-term, stable partnership with the university, working together to overcome common technological bottlenecks in the industry and achieve mutual benefits and win-win outcomes.
After thorough communication and in-depth discussions, the two parties ultimately reached several important consensuses, clearly defining three core directions for industry-academia-research cooperation: First, establishing a joint technology R&D mechanism. Leveraging the Jiangda College of Energy’s research platform advantages and its pool of talented human resources, we will conduct targeted, collaborative research to address Zhonglian Pump Industry’s technical needs in key areas such as pumps for extreme operating conditions and high-efficiency, energy-saving pumps. Second, setting up a two-way talent development pathway. On one hand, the College will provide “customized” training tailored to Zhonglian Pump Industry’s corporate development needs, cultivating specialized technical talents who meet the company’s requirements. On the other hand, Zhonglian Pump Industry will offer students from the College high-quality internship and training bases, along with experienced corporate mentors to guide them, thereby facilitating a seamless integration of “research, education, industry, and application.” Third, promoting the commercialization of scientific research outcomes. We will accelerate the industrial application of the College’s cutting-edge research findings at Zhonglian Pump Industry, creating a virtuous innovation cycle of “R&D—commercialization—iteration.”
This exchange event has not only established an efficient and pragmatic cooperation bridge between Zhonglian Pump Industry and the School of Energy and Power Engineering at Jiangsu University, but also marks a substantive step forward for both sides in the fields of industry-academia-research collaborative innovation and joint talent development. Moving forward, both parties will take this exchange as an important starting point to continuously deepen multi-dimensional cooperation, jointly promoting high-quality development in pump technology innovation and talent cultivation, and contributing greater strength to the industry’s transformation and upgrading as well as its pursuit of high-quality development.
