The HL vertical mixed-flow pump is a single-stage, single-suction, vertical volute-type mixed-flow pump. It features a rational design, reliable performance, convenient maintenance and installation, as well as high efficiency, compact size, light weight, small footprint, and the ability to rotate the pump body by 360°. This pump is suitable for conveying clean water or other liquids whose physical and chemical properties are similar to those of water. The temperature of the medium being conveyed should not exceed 50℃. It is primarily used in power station circulating water systems, urban water supply and drainage, shipyard water level regulation, hydraulic engineering, and agricultural irrigation and drainage, making it applicable in a wide range of fields.

Advantages of HL-type vertical mixed-flow pumps:

The pump features excellent suction performance and high efficiency; it can adapt to a wide range of water level variations and operate in either dry or submerged environments. The typical transmission method is direct drive via a vertical electric motor.

(1) The operation is simple: Since the impellers are all above the water surface, before starting the pump, a vacuum pump must be used to fill the pump with water. In contrast, the impellers of vertical mixed-flow pumps are generally submerged in water and can be started directly.

(2) Small installation footprint: Including the drive motor, a vertical mixed-flow pump requires only half the space needed by a horizontal pump. This advantage becomes even more pronounced today, especially as pumps are becoming larger.

(3) It helps prevent cavitation. The impeller of a vertical mixed-flow pump is generally submerged in water, allowing for a larger available NPSH. Consequently, even when the pump operates at a flow rate greater than the design point, cavitation will not occur.

However, since it’s a vertical shaft pump, the pump is relatively long in the longitudinal direction, requiring a higher lifting height for crane operations during disassembly and reassembly. Thus, sufficient overhead clearance is necessary above the pump—this is a drawback of vertical pumps. Nevertheless, vertical pumps are almost always installed outdoors, so this issue doesn’t really become a problem.
