　　The HW horizontal mixed-flow pump is a horizontal, single-stage, single-suction, volute-type mixed-flow pump. It is suitable for conveying clean water or other liquids whose physical and chemical properties are similar to those of clean water. The temperature of the liquid being conveyed should not exceed 50 degrees Celsius. This pump is widely used in various applications, including agricultural irrigation and drainage, industrial water supply and drainage, and urban water supply and drainage systems. The HW mixed-flow pump is an upgraded and redesigned product jointly developed by China’s pump industry associations, and it is a energy-saving product promoted and adopted by China’s machinery industry. The flow rate and head of the HW mixed-flow pump fall between those of centrifugal pumps and axial-flow pumps. It features a compact size, light weight, high efficiency, a wide efficient operating range, a simple structure, ease of use, and convenient maintenance.

　　The HW mixed-flow pump consists primarily of several key components, including the pump cover, impeller, pump body, pump shaft, shaft sleeve, and bearing housing (for diameters ≤350 mm) or bearing bracket (for diameters ≥400 mm). The pump cover is connected to both the pump body and the inlet pipe. There should be an appropriate clearance between the plane of the pump cover and the plane of the impeller. If the clearance is too small, friction will occur; if it’s too large, a significant amount of pressurized water will flow backward into the pump body, reducing the pump’s efficiency. The optimal clearance for practical use is 0.3 to 0.7 mm (with the pump shaft pushed toward the pump’s inlet end). This clearance can be adjusted by adding or removing paper gaskets.

　　The shaft seal assembly consists of packing, a packing gland, a packing ring, and a stuffing box on the pump body (pumps of models 150HW and 200HW do not have a packing ring). Its function is to prevent air from being drawn into the pump and to prevent excessive water from leaking out along the shaft. The shaft sleeve is used to protect the pump shaft and can be replaced promptly once it becomes worn.

　　The pump shaft is supported by single-row radial ball bearings. The bearings can be lubricated with oil—ensure the oil level remains between the markings on the oil-level gauge. Alternatively, they can be lubricated with grease, which can be added during pump assembly. During operation, additional lubricant can be replenished by removing and reinstalling the front and rear covers.

　　The screw hole at the top of the pump body is used for adding priming water or connecting a vacuum pump to draw in and prime water.

　　To broaden the pump’s application scope and meet diverse user requirements, the impeller’s outer diameter can be trimmed or impellers with different performance characteristics can be substituted (indicated by adding letters such as “A”).

　　The accessories for the HW mixed-flow pump include bends, foot valves, and pulleys or couplings, among others.

　　Transmission direction: There are direct transmissions and variable-speed transmissions. Commonly used prime movers include electric motors and diesel engines. When placing an order, please specify the model (power and speed) of the prime mover to determine the appropriate specifications for the coupling or pulley.

　　Rotation direction: When viewed from the pump inlet, the impeller generally rotates counterclockwise (for pumps 650HW—5, —7, and —10, the rotation is clockwise).
