Product Overview

The SAP-type single-stage, double-suction, horizontal split-case pump is... Middle-open pump The manufacturer, Zhonglian Pump Industry, has developed a new double-suction, mid-open centrifugal pump based on the SA-type double-suction, mid-open pump through structural optimization and design improvements. This pump is designed for conveying clear water free of solid particles, as well as other liquids whose physical and chemical properties are similar to those of water. The temperature of the medium being conveyed ranges from 0°C to 80°C, and the maximum allowable inlet pressure is 0.6 MPa.

SAP-Type Single-Stage Double-Suction Horizontally Split Centrifugal Pump Model Description

Model: 300SAP—90

300—suction port diameter is 250mm

90 - Head height

Structural Diagram of SAP-Type Single-Stage Double-Suction Horizontal Split-Casing Centrifugal Pump

The SAP-type horizontal double-suction split-case pump is installed horizontally. The pump casing is horizontally split along the axis centerline, with the upper part serving as the pump cover and the lower part as the pump body. Both the suction port and the discharge port are located on the pump body below the pump shaft centerline, and their centerlines are perpendicular to the shaft axis. During maintenance, there is no need to disconnect the inlet or outlet pipelines—simply lift off the pump cover to remove the rotor assembly. Except for the 48SAP-30 model, which uses sliding bearings, all other models employ rolling bearings. The bearing end covers are sealed using skeleton oil seals. The shaft seals utilize both soft packing seals and mechanical seals.

Rotational direction of the horizontal split-case pump: When viewed from the motor end toward the pump, the rotation is counterclockwise—meaning the suction port is on the left and the discharge port is on the right. Alternatively, upon user request, the drive end can be moved to the other end of the pump; in this case, both the rotational direction and the directions of the suction and discharge ports will be reversed compared to the above description.

Material of main components for horizontal split-case pumps: All flow-path components of the pump are made of cast iron. If required by the user, the impeller can also be manufactured from cast steel or brass, but this must be specified in the purchase contract.

Assembly and Disassembly of SAP-Type Single-Stage Double-Suction Horizontally Split-Casing Centrifugal Pumps

1. Assemble the rotor components: For a packing pump, sequentially install the impeller, shaft sleeve, shaft sleeve nut, packing rings, and packing.

Install the stuffing box gland, water stop ring, and bearing components, then put on the double-suction sealing ring and mount the coupling. For mechanical seal pumps, install the impeller, shaft sleeve, mechanical seal retaining sleeve, moving ring of the mechanical seal, stationary ring of the mechanical seal, mechanical seal gland, and bearing components in sequence. Next, put on the double-suction sealing ring and mount the coupling.

2. Check the radial runout of the outer circumference of the sealing components on the impeller and the outer circumference of the shaft sleeve on the rotor assembly, ensuring that it does not exceed the values specified in the table below (in millimeters).

3. Install the rotor assembly and studs onto the pump body, then secure the bearing housing cover. Use the shaft sleeve nut to adjust the axial position of the impeller.

Position it midway between the pump body’s flow passage and secure it in place. Then, tighten the bearing housing cover using the set screws.

4. Place the center-opening paper gasket, put on the pump cover, tighten the screw tail pin, and then securely tighten the pump cover nut. For packing pumps,

Do not pack the packing too tightly—excessive packing tightness can cause the sleeve to heat up and increase energy consumption. Likewise, do not pack it too loosely; if the packing is too loose, liquid leakage will increase significantly and pump efficiency will decline.

After assembly, manually rotate the pump shaft—there should be no rubbing or scraping, and the rotation should be smooth and even. To disassemble, simply reverse the above-mentioned assembly sequence.

Installation Precautions for SAP-Type Single-Stage Double-Suction Horizontally Split-Casing Centrifugal Pumps

1. Check that the pump and motor are free of damage.

2. The installation height of the pump, plus the hydraulic losses in the suction piping and its velocity head, must not exceed the allowable suction vacuum height specified in the pump’s data sheet. The foundation dimensions shall conform to the installation dimensions of the pump unit.

3. Installation Sequence

Place the pump and motor onto the anchor bolts, put on the nuts, and position them on the concrete foundation with the reserved anchor bolt holes.

Use adjusting wedge shims to correct the level and ensure proper alignment of the pump and motor shafts. Then, fill all anchor bolt holes completely with concrete.

(2) After the concrete has fully hardened, recheck the coaxiality of the pump and motor shafts by aligning them along the outer circumference of the two couplings; the allowable deviation should not exceed 0.1 mm. The tolerance for unevenness in the end clearance around the circumference is 0.3 mm. After tightening the base mounting bolts, verify the alignment accuracy, then completely fill the space beneath the motor and pump feet with concrete, ensuring that sufficient clearance is left around the wedge blocks.

(3) After verifying that the motor’s rotation direction matches the pump’s rotation direction, install the coupling’s connecting pin.

4. The inlet and outlet pipelines should be supported by separate brackets and must not rely on the pump body for support.

5. The joint between the pump and the piping system must ensure good air tightness. In particular, the inlet and outlet pipelines must be strictly leak-proof, and there should be no possibility of air pockets forming within the installation.

6. If the pump is installed above the inlet water level, a foot valve should be installed for priming purposes, or a vacuum-assisted water intake method can also be used.

The installation methods and requirements for pump units without a common base outlined above apply equally to the installation of pump units equipped with a common base.

Follow the method described above.

7. Between the pump and the discharge pipeline, a gate valve and a check valve are generally required (not necessary for head heights less than 20 meters). The check valve should be installed behind the gate valve.

Starting, stopping, and operating the SAP-type single-stage, double-suction, horizontal split-case centrifugal pump

1. Starting and Stopping:

Before starting: The pump rotor should turn smoothly and evenly when rotated.

(2) Close the outlet gate valve and fill the pump with water (if there is no foot valve, use a vacuum pump to draw water in). Ensure that the pump is completely filled with water and free of any air pockets.

(3) If the pump is equipped with a vacuum gauge or a pressure gauge, first close the stopcock connected to the pump before starting the motor. Once the pump reaches normal operating speed, open the stopcock and then gradually open the outlet gate valve. If the flow rate is too high, slightly close the gate valve to adjust it; conversely, if the flow rate is too low, open the gate valve further.

(4) Tighten the compression nuts on the packing gland evenly until liquid starts to leak out in drops, while paying close attention to any temperature rise at the packing chamber.

(5) When stopping the pump, first close the stopcocks on the vacuum gauge and pressure gauge, as well as the gate valve on the discharge pipeline. Then, turn off the power supply to the motor. If the ambient temperature is low, open the square screw plug at the bottom of the pump body to drain any remaining water, thus preventing the pump from freezing and cracking.

(6) When the pump is to be discontinued for an extended period, disassemble it, wipe all parts dry, apply rust-preventive oil to the machined surfaces, and store it properly.

2. Operation:

(1) The maximum temperature of the pump bearing should not exceed 75°C.

(2) The amount of calcium-based grease used for lubricating bearings should ideally occupy between one-third and one-half of the bearing housing space, and it should be replaced regularly.

(3) When the packing wears out, you can slightly tighten the packing gland. If the wear is excessive, the packing should be replaced. Mechanical seals generally do not wear out and have a service life of up to one year.

(4) Regularly inspect the components of the flexible coupling and pay attention to the temperature rise of the motor bearings.

(5) During operation, if you detect any noise or other abnormal sounds, immediately stop the machine, identify the cause, and eliminate it.

(6) The pump’s rotational speed must not be arbitrarily increased, but it can be operated at a lower speed.

Q

What is your typical delivery time?

A

Models in stock can be shipped the next day at the latest. All others are custom-made, with lead times generally ranging from 7 to 90 days depending on the product size and project specifics. Please contact our sales manager for details: 0731-88632200 。

Q

Do you have centrifugal pumps in stock?

A

Centrifugal pumps come in numerous models and configurations. Except for a small number of high-volume, standard models that are in stock, the vast majority are not stocked and are customized products. We need to select a pump based on your site's flow rate, head, media temperature, pH value, and installation conditions, etc., to determine the pump model and configuration before we can submit an order to the factory for production.

Q

What information should I provide when requesting a quote?

A

Generally, to obtain an accurate quotation, we recommend providing us with the following information: pump flow rate, head, on-site operating voltage and frequency, temperature, pH value, and solid particle content of the fluid being conveyed, and on-site installation conditions (horizontal or vertical installation), etc.

If you are not sure, don't worry, our business managers will assist you in determining this.

Q

What products do you mainly produce?

A

Zhonglian Pump Industry manufactures various large industrial centrifugal pumps. Main products include: self-balancing multi-stage pumps, multi-stage centrifugal pumps, single-stage centrifugal pumps, split-case pumps, chemical pumps, submersible pumps, pipeline pumps, long-shaft pumps, condensate pumps, etc.

Q

Could you help me with the selection?

A

Certainly! If the water pump model is not selected accurately, there will be big problems. If you choose a smaller one, it won't meet your needs; if you choose a larger one, it will waste electricity and fuel, increasing your costs.

Q

Why is it so slow to get a price quote?

A

Because centrifugal pumps are non-standard customized products with many models, the price range is also very large. Even for the same model, the price difference is also very large due to different materials and configurations. Taking the most common water pump accessory—the impeller—as an example, the price of a stainless steel impeller is several times that of a cast iron impeller. Therefore, we need to clarify the relevant information to give you an accurate price. Normally, if you provide relatively comprehensive information, we can quote within 5 minutes.
