Product Parameters

A metering pump is a type of positive-displacement pump, also known as a dosing pump or proportional pump. As a kind of fluid-handling machinery, the metering pump is characterized by its ability to maintain a constant flow rate independent of the discharge pressure. By using a metering pump, one can simultaneously perform pumping, metering, and regulating functions, thereby simplifying the production process. When multiple metering pumps are used in combination, several media can be accurately proportioned and introduced into the process for mixing. Metering pumps are widely employed in numerous industries, including pharmaceuticals, food and beverage, and petrochemicals, where they are responsible for metering and adding highly corrosive, highly toxic, highly viscous, and high-pressure materials during manufacturing processes.

Structure of metering pumps
This pump consists of three main parts: the motor, the transmission box, and the cylinder block.
The transmission box components consist of a worm-gear mechanism, a stroke adjustment mechanism, and a crank-link mechanism. By rotating the adjustment handwheel, the stroke can be finely adjusted, thereby changing the eccentricity of the moving shaft and achieving the desired variation in the plunger (piston) stroke.
The cylinder block components consist of a pump head, an intake valve assembly, a discharge valve assembly, a plunger, and packing seals.

The working principle of a metering pump
The motor drives the worm gear via a coupling, and the worm gear reduces speed through a worm wheel, causing the main shaft and eccentric wheel to perform rotary motion. The eccentric wheel, in turn, drives the sliding adjustment seat of the arc-shaped connecting rod to perform reciprocating motion within its guide. As the plunger moves toward its rear dead center, a vacuum gradually forms inside the pump chamber, causing the suction valve to open and allowing liquid to be drawn in. When the plunger moves toward its forward dead center, the suction valve closes and the discharge valve opens, enabling the liquid to be discharged as the plunger continues its forward movement. In this way, the pump’s reciprocating cycle produces a continuous, pressurized, and metered flow of liquid.

Flow regulation of metering pumps
The pump’s flow rate is adjusted by rotating the adjustment handwheel, which in turn rotates the adjusting screw. This changes the spacing between the arc-shaped connecting rods, thereby altering the stroke of the plunger (piston) within the pump chamber and determining the magnitude of the flow rate. The scale on the adjustment handwheel precisely indicates the plunger stroke with an accuracy of 95%.

Diaphragm metering pump
This type of metering pump can further be classified into three categories based on the drive mechanism: mechanical diaphragm metering pumps, hydraulic diaphragm metering pumps, and electromagnetic diaphragm metering pumps. Plunger metering pumps are reciprocating positive-displacement pumps used for precise metering; typically, their flow rate error does not exceed ±1%. As an ideal device for precise fluid measurement and dosing, diaphragm metering pumps can meet the requirements of various process applications and are suitable for conveying a wide range of liquids—especially corrosive ones. Moreover, their flow rate can be continuously adjusted from 0% to 100%.

Features:

1. It features a spacious flow path and excellent passage capability, allowing particles as large as 10 mm to pass through. When pumping slurry and impurities, it causes minimal wear on the pump.

  2. The head and flow rate can be continuously adjusted by varying the opening of the air valve (air pressure adjustment ranges from 1 to 7 bar):

  3. This pump has no rotating parts, no shaft seals, and no diaphragms. The medium being pumped is completely isolated from the pump’s moving parts and the working medium itself, ensuring that no leakage occurs. Therefore, when pumping toxic, volatile, or corrosive media, this pump will not cause environmental pollution or pose a threat to personal safety.

  4. No electricity required. Safe and reliable for use in flammable and explosive environments.

  5. Can operate when immersed in a medium:

  6. The pump features a simple structure with few wear parts. Its design is straightforward, making installation and maintenance convenient. The medium conveyed by the pump never comes into contact with moving components such as the distribution valve or connecting rods—unlike other types of pumps, where performance gradually degrades due to wear on components like rotors, pistons, gears, and vanes.

  7. It is easy to use and highly reliable in operation—simply opening and closing the gas valve is all that’s required to start or stop the pump. Even if the pump runs without a medium for an extended period due to unforeseen circumstances or experiences a sudden shutdown, it will not be damaged as a result. Once the load exceeds the rated capacity, the pump will automatically shut down, providing self-protection. When the load returns to normal, the pump will automatically restart and resume operation.

  8. Can convey relatively viscous liquids (viscosity below 10,000 centipoise):

  9. This pump does not require oil lubrication, and even if it runs dry, it will not be affected in any way—this is a key feature of this pump.

  10. No priming required. Suction lift up to 5 m. Head up to 50 m. Outlet pressure ≥ 6 kgf/cm².

Plunger metering pump
This type of metering pump is suitable for conveying various liquids that do not pollute the atmospheric environment. Since the plunger metering pump employs packing seals, there may be slight dripping. If leakage is unacceptable, it is recommended to choose a diaphragm metering pump instead. Plunger metering pumps are mainly divided into single-head plunger metering pumps and double-head plunger metering pumps. Single-head metering pumps are typically small- or medium-sized plunger metering pumps; for applications requiring high flow rates and pressures, it is advisable to select a double-head plunger metering pump.

Q

What is your typical delivery time?

A

Models in stock can be shipped the next day at the latest. All others are custom-made, with lead times generally ranging from 7 to 90 days depending on the product size and project specifics. Please contact our sales manager for details: 0731-88632200 。

Q

Do you have centrifugal pumps in stock?

A

Centrifugal pumps come in numerous models and configurations. Except for a small number of high-volume, standard models that are in stock, the vast majority are not stocked and are customized products. We need to select a pump based on your site's flow rate, head, media temperature, pH value, and installation conditions, etc., to determine the pump model and configuration before we can submit an order to the factory for production.

Q

What information should I provide when requesting a quote?

A

Generally, to obtain an accurate quotation, we recommend providing us with the following information: pump flow rate, head, on-site operating voltage and frequency, temperature, pH value, and solid particle content of the fluid being conveyed, and on-site installation conditions (horizontal or vertical installation), etc.

If you are not sure, don't worry, our business managers will assist you in determining this.

Q

What products do you mainly produce?

A

Zhonglian Pump Industry manufactures various large industrial centrifugal pumps. Main products include: self-balancing multi-stage pumps, multi-stage centrifugal pumps, single-stage centrifugal pumps, split-case pumps, chemical pumps, submersible pumps, pipeline pumps, long-shaft pumps, condensate pumps, etc.

Q

Could you help me with the selection?

A

Certainly! If the water pump model is not selected accurately, there will be big problems. If you choose a smaller one, it won't meet your needs; if you choose a larger one, it will waste electricity and fuel, increasing your costs.

Q

Why is it so slow to get a price quote?

A

Because centrifugal pumps are non-standard customized products with many models, the price range is also very large. Even for the same model, the price difference is also very large due to different materials and configurations. Taking the most common water pump accessory—the impeller—as an example, the price of a stainless steel impeller is several times that of a cast iron impeller. Therefore, we need to clarify the relevant information to give you an accurate price. Normally, if you provide relatively comprehensive information, we can quote within 5 minutes.
