Product Overview

The BH series variable-frequency constant-pressure water supply equipment uses frequency conversion speed regulation to achieve constant-pressure water supply. Compared with the method of achieving constant pressure by adjusting valves, this approach delivers significantly better energy savings (which can be calculated based on specific circumstances).

Product Parameters

　　Generally speaking, when a single inverter controls a single motor, it is sufficient to ensure that the rated capacity of the motor matched to the inverter corresponds exactly to the actual capacity of the motor. When a single inverter controls two motors simultaneously, in principle, the rated capacity of the motor matched to the inverter should equal the sum of the capacities of the two motors. However, if the water demand during peak load significantly differs from the total flow rate produced by both pumps running at full speed, it may be appropriate to reduce the inverter’s rated capacity slightly—but be sure to leave enough margin for safety.

　　Although the motor draws a relatively small operating current when the pump runs at low speed, if the user’s water demand fluctuates frequently, the motor will repeatedly go through acceleration and deceleration cycles. During these acceleration and deceleration phases, the current drawn by the motor may slightly exceed its rated current, leading to overheating. Therefore, thermal protection for the motor is essential. As for the temperature rise that accumulates due to frequent acceleration and deceleration, the electronic thermal protection function built into the frequency converter is unlikely to provide adequate protection; hence, it is advisable to use a thermal relay for motor thermal protection.

　　Regarding the preset of main functions, the maximum frequency should be set to the rated frequency of the motor as the inverter’s maximum operating frequency. When using a PID controller, the acceleration and deceleration times should be set as short as possible to avoid affecting the dynamic response process determined by the PID controller. If the inverter itself is equipped with a built-in PID control function, simply enabling the PID function during preset will automatically render the previously set acceleration and deceleration times ineffective.

Application modes of the BH series variable-frequency constant-pressure water supply equipment:

　　Typically, in a single water supply system, multiple pumps are installed for regular use. When the water demand is high, all pumps operate at full capacity; when the demand is low, only one or two pumps are activated. When using variable-frequency constant-pressure water supply equipment to maintain constant pressure, two approaches can be adopted: The first approach involves equipping all pumps with a single variable-frequency drive; the second approach entails providing each pump with its own dedicated variable-frequency drive. The latter approach uses a PID controller to automatically adjust the output frequency of the variable-frequency drive based on pressure feedback signals, thereby changing the motor speed and ultimately achieving constant pressure throughout the pipeline network. This method forms a closed-loop control system that is relatively simple but comes with higher costs. The former approach, while less expensive, offers performance that is no worse than the latter. However, its control program is more complex. This approach represents the direction of future development.
