Product Overview

The screw vacuum pump is an upgraded, next-generation product that replaces oil-sealed vacuum pumps. It is suitable for applications involving gases containing large amounts of water vapor and small amounts of dust. This type of pump has been widely adopted in China’s pharmaceutical, chemical, semiconductor, and other industries that have stringent requirements for clean vacuum environments.

The dry screw vacuum pump is a high-tech product with extremely high technical content. It operates by utilizing a pair of screw rotors rotating in opposite directions, performing synchronous, high-speed meshing motion within the pump casing to create suction and exhaust actions, thus functioning as a pumping device. The two screws undergo meticulous dynamic balancing and are supported by bearings, then installed inside the pump casing. There is a specific clearance between the screws, ensuring that they do not rub against each other during operation. As a result, the pump runs smoothly, generates low noise, and requires no lubricating oil in the working chamber. Its maintenance-free design effectively addresses the challenges of frequent maintenance and high costs associated with traditional vacuum pumps. Since no lubricating oil or sealing fluid is required in the pump’s working chamber, this pump can efficiently recover various condensable gases, thereby eliminating the pollution risks posed by steam jet pumps, slide valve pumps, rotary vane pumps, liquid-ring pumps, and other conventional vacuum equipment—risks that can contaminate both the vacuum system and the environment. Moreover, the recovered materials can even generate additional economic benefits. This pump boasts advantages such as higher ultimate vacuum levels, lower power consumption, energy efficiency, and maintenance-free operation. It is primarily used in high-purity vacuum processes requiring extremely high vacuum levels and capable of handling harsh operating conditions. It excels at extracting gases containing condensable substances and particulate matter, making it particularly suitable for clean environments. Additionally, its surface can be easily treated for corrosion resistance, making it especially well-suited for widespread use in industries such as pharmaceuticals, chemicals, semiconductors, and other sectors in China that have stringent requirements for clean vacuum environments. Applications span across fields including electronics, chemical processing, biopharmaceuticals, metalworking, and food processing.

Product Parameters

Performance Characteristics of Dry Oil-Free Screw Vacuum Pumps
  1. The working chamber contains no medium whatsoever, enabling a clean vacuum to be achieved.
  2. The working chamber and the surface of the screw rotor are coated with an anti-corrosion layer, enabling them to withstand harsh operating conditions.
  3. The gas is not compressed within the pump, making it suitable for extracting condensable gases.
  4. A single pump can evacuate down to 1 Pa from atmospheric pressure, greatly simplifying the vacuum system.
  5. Water temperature has little impact on vacuum, resulting in water savings of over 90%, and in some cases, no water consumption at all.
  6. No fuel consumption, no leaks.
  7. There is no friction between rotating parts, allowing for high-speed operation and a compact overall machine size.
  8. Simple structure and easy maintenance.
  9. The extracted gas is discharged directly from the pump body, without contaminating the water, eliminating environmental protection concerns and making gas recovery more convenient.
  10. It can be combined with Roots pumps and molecular pumps to form an oil-free unit.
  11. Dry screw pumps require only a small amount of circulating cooling water, resulting in low operating costs. In contrast, for liquid-ring pumps and water-jet pumps, since solvents continuously enter the water tank, the water in the tank must be changed periodically or continuously to maintain the pump’s vacuum level, consuming large quantities of water. Given the ongoing rise in water prices, the operating costs of liquid-ring and water-jet pumps are relatively high. Although the equipment cost of a dry screw pump is higher than that of a liquid-ring or water-jet pump, from a long-term operational perspective, its costs are lower, making it more economical and environmentally friendly.
  12. From the perspective of safety and product quality in chemical production, dry screw vacuum pumps also have their advantages. In the vacuum systems we use, many materials can react with water, even posing a risk of decomposition and explosion. Both liquid-ring pumps and liquid-jet pumps carry the risk of water being sucked back into the vacuum system when they suddenly stop operating, which can easily lead to safety hazards or contaminate the product quality. In contrast, dry screw pumps operate without water or oil; even if water is accidentally sucked back, no danger or contamination will occur, making them more favorable for ensuring both safety and product quality.
  13. Corrosion Resistance: The wetted parts of dry screw vacuum pumps can be coated with nickel, enabling them to withstand corrosion from most organic and inorganic acid gases. They have been successfully employed in distillation systems that extract toluene containing hydrochloric acid gas. In contrast, liquid-ring pumps, due to the difficulty of applying corrosion-resistant treatments, generally cannot be used in acidic environments. Water-jet pumps typically use polypropylene or fiberglass-reinforced plastic materials for corrosion resistance; however, these materials are not resistant to the long-term dissolving corrosion caused by organic solvents such as toluene. Moreover, since organic solutions circulate at high speeds within the jet pump, there is an increased risk of static electricity-induced ignition.

Working Principle of Dry Oil-Free Screw Vacuum Pump
Similar to screw compressors, the operating process of a screw dry vacuum pump can be divided into three stages: intake, compression, and exhaust. As the rotors rotate, each pair of meshing teeth sequentially completes the same working cycle; we’ll now illustrate this process using just one pair of teeth.
  Inhalation process
The male rotor rotates counterclockwise, while the female screw rotates clockwise. In the figure, the rotor end face at the top is the intake section, and the end face at the bottom is the exhaust section.
  Compression process
The end face on the right is the exhaust end face. Here, the male rotor rotates clockwise, while the female rotor rotates counterclockwise. The rotor end face shown at the top of the diagram is the intake end face, and the end face at the bottom is the exhaust end face.
  Exhaust process
During the排气 process of a screw pump, once the inter-tooth volume is connected to the exhaust port, the排气 process begins. As the inter-tooth volume continues to shrink, the gas under exhaust pressure is gradually discharged through the exhaust port.

Common Sense for Using Dry Oil-Free Screw Vacuum Pumps
  1. The pump chamber contains no oil or any other media; it is cleaned and evacuated, causing no environmental pollution.

  2. High vacuum level, up to 5 Pa;
  3. The mechanism is simple, easy to operate and maintain, and has low operating costs.
  4. The rotary vane vacuum pump can operate continuously at higher pressures with low noise.
  5. Capable of extracting corrosive gases, toxic gases, flammable and explosive gases, radioactive gases, gases containing dust, and suspect gases (such as water vapor, organic gases, etc.);
  6. It can be used as a gas transfer pump with good compression capability, reaching from 10⁻¹⁰ to 10⁵.
  7. The rotor is suspended within the pump chamber, with no contact between rotors or between the rotors and the pump chamber, eliminating friction and ensuring a long service life for the rod vacuum pump.

Q

What is your typical delivery time?

A

Models in stock can be shipped the next day at the latest. All others are custom-made, with lead times generally ranging from 7 to 90 days depending on the product size and project specifics. Please contact our sales manager for details: 0731-88632200 。

Q

Do you have centrifugal pumps in stock?

A

Centrifugal pumps come in numerous models and configurations. Except for a small number of high-volume, standard models that are in stock, the vast majority are not stocked and are customized products. We need to select a pump based on your site's flow rate, head, media temperature, pH value, and installation conditions, etc., to determine the pump model and configuration before we can submit an order to the factory for production.

Q

What information should I provide when requesting a quote?

A

Generally, to obtain an accurate quotation, we recommend providing us with the following information: pump flow rate, head, on-site operating voltage and frequency, temperature, pH value, and solid particle content of the fluid being conveyed, and on-site installation conditions (horizontal or vertical installation), etc.

If you are not sure, don't worry, our business managers will assist you in determining this.

Q

What products do you mainly produce?

A

Zhonglian Pump Industry manufactures various large industrial centrifugal pumps. Main products include: self-balancing multi-stage pumps, multi-stage centrifugal pumps, single-stage centrifugal pumps, split-case pumps, chemical pumps, submersible pumps, pipeline pumps, long-shaft pumps, condensate pumps, etc.

Q

Could you help me with the selection?

A

Certainly! If the water pump model is not selected accurately, there will be big problems. If you choose a smaller one, it won't meet your needs; if you choose a larger one, it will waste electricity and fuel, increasing your costs.

Q

Why is it so slow to get a price quote?

A

Because centrifugal pumps are non-standard customized products with many models, the price range is also very large. Even for the same model, the price difference is also very large due to different materials and configurations. Taking the most common water pump accessory—the impeller—as an example, the price of a stainless steel impeller is several times that of a cast iron impeller. Therefore, we need to clarify the relevant information to give you an accurate price. Normally, if you provide relatively comprehensive information, we can quote within 5 minutes.
