Accessory Details
The pump coupling consists of two halves, each connected to the driving shaft and the driven shaft, respectively. The coupling is a mechanical component used to connect the motor to the pump’s main shaft. Its primary function is to enable the motor and pump shafts to rotate together and transmit torque and power. Additionally, it can slightly compensate for misalignment and reduce vibrations. Depending on the type of coupling, there are various designs, including diaphragm couplings, pin-type couplings, rigid couplings, and others; the appropriate type should be selected based on the specific operating conditions. The coupling is located at the connection point between the bottom of the motor and the top of the pump, and it is secured to the shaft by means of a key. Couplings are made from a variety of materials, with commonly used ones including 45# steel and cast steel.

Types and Characteristics of Pump Couplings
The claw-type coupling, also known as the elastic block coupling, has the structure shown in Figure 4-15. It is characterized by its small size, light weight, simple structure, and ease of installation. It is commonly used in applications with low power requirements and where high importance is not critical. Its maximum allowable torque generally does not exceed 850 N·m, and the recommended maximum shaft diameter is typically no more than 50 mm.
The elastic pin coupling connects the two halves of the coupling via pins. One end of each pin features a conical surface that forms a fixed fit with a tapered pin hole on the flange of one half-coupling, secured by a nut. The other end of the pin is fitted with an elastic sleeve, which is inserted into the pin hole on the flange of the other half-coupling. The elastic sleeve is made of rubber, and its structure is shown in Figure 4-16. This coupling is characterized by its simple structure, ease of installation, convenient replacement, compact size, light weight, and high torque transmission capability.
The diaphragm coupling employs a set of very thin metal spring blades, shaped in various configurations, which are connected to the two halves of the coupling on the driving and driven shafts via bolts, as shown in Figure 4-17. It features a simple structure, requires no lubrication or maintenance, exhibits excellent resistance to high-temperature deformation, offers superior alignment performance, boasts high reliability, and can transmit large torque; however, it comes at a relatively higher price.

We need to select a pump based on your site's flow rate, head, media temperature, pH value, and installation conditions, etc., to determine the pump model and configuration before we can submit an order to the factory for production.
