Processability Analysis of the Middle Open Pump Shaft Sleeve Component
(1) Part material: 45 steel. It has good machinability.
(2) Component surfaces: Outer cylindrical surfaces (Φ50, 35, 33), inner surfaces (Φ31.5, 20.5), shaped holes, end faces, inner and outer step surfaces, inner and outer relief grooves, and inner and outer chamfers.
(3) Main surface analysis: The Φ20.5 internal bore serves both as a supporting surface for other parts and as the primary reference surface for this part itself; the Φ50 external circle and its stepped surface are also used to support other parts.
(4) Main technical specifications: The coaxiality between the outer diameter Φ50 and the inner bore Φ20.5 shall be controlled within a tolerance of 0.03 mm; the perpendicularity between the step surface and the inner bore Φ20.5 shall be within the dimensional tolerance of the inner bore Φ44 itself; surface roughness Ra 0.8 μm; and the hardness of the part after heat treatment shall be HRC 50–55.
Part Manufacturing Process Design
(1) Blank Selection: Given that the part is made of 45 steel, the production type is medium-batch, the part’s diameter dimensions vary significantly, the part has thin walls, low rigidity, and is prone to deformation, and it requires high machining accuracy, coupled with the need for quenching treatment and other factors, we have chosen between bar stock and die forging: die-forged parts.
(2) Reference Analysis: The primary reference datum should be the center of the Φ20.5 inner hole.
(3) Installation Plan: During the machining of the large end and the inner bore, a three-jaw chuck can be directly used for clamping. For rough machining of the small end, the reverse-jaw chuck can be used to clamp the large end; during semi-finish and finish machining of the small end, a centering mandrel should be employed, with the workpiece positioned and axially clamped by means of the Φ20.5 hole. When machining the shaped holes, a dividing head can be used for installation, raising the spindle by 90º and adopting the direct indexing method to ensure that the three Φ6 holes are evenly spaced around the circumference of the part. For the four screw-hole passages on the large end, a specialized fixture should be used for installation: the large end face and the Φ20.5 hole serve as the primary positioning references, while the shaped holes prevent rotation, and the workpiece is clamped axially.
( 4 ) Part surface machining methods: Φ20.5 The inner bore is precision-ground to achieve the required accuracy and surface roughness. Requirements: The outer circle and its stepped surfaces shall be machined by grinding; the remaining rotating surfaces shall meet the machining requirements through semi-finishing turning; the shaped holes shall be machined on a vertical milling machine.
