Introduction to Pin-Type Couplings:
The elastic sleeve pin coupling uses a pin fitted with an elastic sleeve (made of rubber) at one end, which is inserted into the flange holes of the two coupling halves to achieve connection between them. In the past, the elastic sleeve pin coupling was the most widely used type of coupling in China. As early as the late 1950s, it had already been standardized by the Ministry of Machinery as JB08—60 Elastic Ring Pin Coupling, making it China’s first ministerial standard coupling.
The elastic sleeve pin coupling has a relatively simple structure, is easy to manufacture, requires no lubrication, and does not need to be bonded with metal vulcanization. The elastic sleeve is convenient to replace without having to move the half-coupling. It offers a certain degree of compensation for relative misalignment between shafts and provides vibration damping and buffering performance. During operation, the elastic sleeve undergoes compressive deformation. Due to its thin thickness and small volume, the elastic sleeve has limited elastic deformation. Therefore, although the elastic sleeve pin coupling can compensate for axial displacement and provide some elasticity, its allowable compensation for axial displacement is relatively small, and its elasticity is relatively weak. The elastic sleeve pin coupling transmits torque by relying on the clamping force of the pin group, which generates frictional torque at the contact surfaces and compresses the rubber elastic sleeve. This type of coupling is suitable for medium- and small-power shaft systems with rigid foundations, high alignment accuracy, moderate impact loads, and low requirements for vibration damping.
Proper selection of pin-type couplings:
Based on the requirements of mechanical characteristics—such as the magnitude of torque transmitted, stiffness requirements, resistance to vibration and shock, acid and alkali corrosion resistance, transmission accuracy, and so forth—determine the appropriate type of coupling.
Uses of the two types of couplings:
Due to manufacturing and installation errors, deformation under load, and the effects of temperature changes, the two shafts connected by a coupling may experience relative displacement, often making it impossible to maintain strict alignment. Based on whether the coupling has elastic elements and whether it can compensate for various types of relative displacement—that is, whether it can continue to perform its connecting function even when relative displacement occurs—and on the coupling's intended application, couplings can be classified into rigid couplings, flexible couplings, and safety couplings. We need to select a pump based on your site's flow rate, head, media temperature, pH value, and installation conditions, etc., to determine the pump model and configuration before we can submit an order to the factory for production.
