What is a pump head?
A pump typically consists of a pump body and a pump head. The pump body refers to the assembly comprising the volute, impeller, bearings, oil housing, and seals. The pump head generally refers to all components of the water pump except for the engine and the pump body itself; it usually includes the impeller, bearings, oil rings, and rotating sealing components (including the shaft).
The pump head of a centrifugal pump refers to the housing that encloses the impeller and the impeller itself, as well as the shaft portion that drives the impeller. Systematically speaking, it’s the part of the pump remaining after removing the motor, coupling, and base.
What materials are pump heads made of?
The pump head refers to the body of the water pump. The commonly used materials are mostly cast iron and aluminum alloy. For industrial pumps used in industries such as mining and coal mining—where wear resistance is critical—the pump body is typically made of titanium alloy or wear-resistant ductile iron. For water pumps operating in corrosive environments, the pump body is usually made of stainless steel or plastic. However, since copper has relatively poor strength, it is not used for manufacturing pump bodies.
The price of pump heads depends on the material and model—some cost as little as a few dozen yuan, while others can go up to over ten thousand yuan.

Except for a small number of high-volume, standard models that are in stock, the vast majority are not stocked and are customized products. We need to select a pump based on your site's flow rate, head, media temperature, pH value, and installation conditions, etc., to determine the pump model and configuration before we can submit an order to the factory for production.
